After 140 years, this old technology still keeps trains safe

"Anderson's Piano" is a set of wires and signals at the Pass of Brander, near Falls of Cruachan in Scotland, that try to detect when there might be a boulder on the track. 12 Most Amazing And Incredible Abandoned Trains

For copyright matters, advertising and other questions, please contact us at: lightningtopchannel🤍gmail.com Subscribe ► 🤍 A well-built train can last for decades. So long as its parts can be maintained and the fuel that powers it doesn't get banned or go out of fashion, a train that was built in 1970 can still work in the 2020s. Trains have extremely long service lives, but when they get to the end of those lives, they're generally scrapped and recycled. That doesn't happen to every train, though - some of them manage to get themselves lost and abandoned, as you're about to see! #AbandonedMilitary #AbandonedTrains #Finds #EverSee #Compilation #LightningTop #AmazingMilitary

Running 43km along a hidden railway line

Overgrown, farmed, pushed out, sold off and only half there, Beau sets off with shovel in hand, dressed like a 50's train driver, to re-trace an old train-line. To run the line end to end would be the first human passing in over 60 years. Blasting down bad track Doubleheader on the ND&W Railway (Maumee and Western)

PREX 1603 leading PREX 3054 blasts down the former Wabash Railroad's 5th District! Lol actually I condensed 6 minutes of the train crawling down the track! This is only the third time I've gotten a pair on one of their trains so I was pleased to see them. The line was most recently the Maumee and Western Railroad (MAW) before being purchased by Pioneer RailCorp. Maintenance was deferred for decades on this stretch of track. Pioneer has done a great job rehabbing the worst parts but some pockets like this still exist. Abandoned Railways

Please follow me on social media Facebook:- 🤍 Twitter:- 🤍 Instagram: - 🤍 An abandoned railroad is a railway line which is no longer used for that purpose. Such lines may be disused railways, closed railways, former railway lines, even derelict railway lines. Some have had all their track and sleepers removed, and others have material remaining from the former use. Many old lines have stopped making a profit. The decision to abandon a line may be taken by a railway company or by government, as with the Beeching cuts in Great Britain in the 1960s. Railways specially built for mines or other industrial or logistical sites are abandoned if the mine is exhausted or the production ceases. War can also lead to abandonment. In former Finnish Karelia, changes of borders due to World War 2 in 1945 led to several railways being abandoned or even demolished by their taker, the Soviet Union. A railway could become international, and without a border checkpoint, the line would become useless. Also, without connecting traffic, the traffic volume could be too low: evacuation of Finnish Karelia removed the Finnish population and international trade would not have been equally viable as domestic trade. Bizarrely, Finland was obliged to keep the Laurila–Kelloselkä track open as a peace treaty article, although it was never used for international traffic, but only for local lumber transport. Before the war, the track ended in Kemijärvi, 270 km from the border, but the Soviet Union demanded Kemijärvi to be connected via rail to Soviet Kantalahti. However, when a metal thief stole 1.7 km of track in 2008, the government declared it was no longer required to maintain the track. It was last used in 2010. Restoration of an Old Railway Lantern. Beavers that Gnaw Iron.

I was surprised that after so many years all the original parts were preserved in this lantern! I found this flashlight at an internet flea market. The seller asked for 20 bucks for the lantern, bought without bargaining and with great pleasure. I'll tell you a secret, at the flea market there were lanterns in almost new condition and at a lower price. It seems to me that the sellers of old things are aware that there is a certain group of people who want rusty things, and therefore, from two identical lots, the one with more rust will be more expensive!!!! Recovery process: The first thing I did was fill it all up with WD-40. Some nuts had to be heated with a soldering iron, but this did not help either - here the Dremel cutting wheel came into play. Having completely disassembled the lantern, I sandblasted it. As it turned out later, a fairly large part of the body consisted of rust, and when the metal was cleaned of rust, the body became like a sieve, and the upper edge seemed to have been gnawed by mice or beavers))). I have long wanted to try a special plasticine for metal, the so-called "cold welding". The instructions say that they can close up holes in metal, as well as make lost or missing parts. I tensed up quite a lot remembering the developmental plasticine modeling classes that I attended in kindergarten. After spending a couple of hours on the theoretical part, then I fashioned the corroded upper part of the case, and filled up the through holes. After a couple of hours, the plasticine hardened and was quite well processed. Smaller irregularities I puttied and then all grouted and painted. I want to write a few words about batteries. I was surprised by their vitality! They are over 30 years old, and I only had to fill them with electrolyte and recharge a little, as they came to life again, AMAZING QUALITY. Overall, I enjoyed working on this lantern, although it took me longer and was behind my posting schedule. Therefore, a big request to you, click "thumbs up" under this video, and write me a small comment (for example, what do you think about this project, or what are the shortcomings in the work). This will help me a lot!!! Thank you. Take care of yourself! Best regards Max!. #restoration #awesomerestoration #asmr

Model Railway Masterpiece Deceptively Real Old Tramway of France

This beautiful model railway layout was built by Hans Louvet from the Netherlands. The model railroad presents the old narrow gauge based tramway de Puy de Dôme near Clermond-Ferrand, France. The model shows the little village, La Baraque, with its buildings and with the old tramway. The layout was built in 1:64 scale, narrow gauge respectively meter gauge. The dimension of the model train layout is 300 x 180 cm but there are thousands of amazing details. It looks like it is real: The scratch built and weathered locomotives, and the deceptively real buildings. Please, enjoy this masterpiece of model railroading. Homemade train / rail cart riding on abandoned railway tracks

Last summer, I built this wooden rail kart from scratch. It's powered by a 8HP briggs and stratton engine. The power is transmitted to the wheels by a selfmade 'transmission' with parts from a lawn tractor. It can go up to 50km/h (31mph), the speed is not limited by the engine's power but by the weakness of the wooden base. (it starts to vibrate quite alot around 50 km/h). The 20km long railway has been abandoned for more than 10 years and is quite steep for a railroad. The maximum steepness is 20mm/m (2%) but it is often close to 10mm/m (1.5%) Fun fact: The last train that drove on this railroad never got to the train station, as the modern passenger train got stuck on the 20mm/m part of the tracks because of the wheels losing grip! Click here for PART 2: 🤍 Click here to see a slideshow with some photos of my rail cart: 🤍 Unfortunately, some people destroyed it and stole the valuable parts, there is not much left of it, only the wooden base and the seats.
